This project marks the beginning of my exploration into handcrafted, three-dimensional work and was made in response to a university brief where we were encouraged to test and combine new ways of image-making and push the boundaries of what illustration can look like. I took inspiration from the sets of the stop-motion animations I watched growing up, and created a playful forest camping scene in painted papers and card, papier-mâché and polymer clay. I wanted to capture a single moment in time through a series of sequential images which reveal hidden details and interactions between the environment and its inhabitants.
